Mathieu Herbaut’s bio

A young talent from France loved to watch his brother and cousins play Counter-Strike from the age of seven. His mother wasn't very happy about her son's hobby, but showed support: ZywOo attended his first LAN tournament at the age of 9.

The passion for the game began to develop into serious offers from the teams to play on an ongoing basis. Mathieu began performing already in 2014: he played with dizLown until 2015, but then disappeared from the pro-scene for a while. Mathieu's mother, fearing the frivolity and lack of financial well-being of her son in esports, insisted on continuing education. At the time, ZywOo was studying for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

In 2016, Mathieu continued his career, without much success playing in the nevermind team, then for E-Corp Bumpers, with whom he won his first real big tournament in the north of France — SKYLLA September 2016, and in 2017 — Pasino Gaming Days by LanEx. Later, ZywOo and his team turned to WySix to join the Against All Authority team.

At the same time, Mr. Herbaut actively played in the FPL — a closed league for pro players, in which you can get through the qualifiers. The Frenchman was one of the best players in the league.

Under the tag of the new organization, the guys became the best at Game Arena Valenciennes, took bronze at Esports World Convention 2017 — Paris Games Week, took second place at ESL Championnat National — Winter 2017. In 2018, the team won the ESL Championnat National — Summer 2018.

But Mathieu's career made a quick jump in 2018 when he signed with Team Vitality. During this year, he managed to get the MVP title in 5 tournaments, reach a 1.3 rating on the LAN, get four gold and two silver medals with the team in all six events during the year. Also, Mathieu became the only Vitality player in 2018 with a positive K/D, won 116 clutches, and made 4000 frags. Moreover, he became the first and youngest player in CS:GO history to become the best of the year in his debut season on the pro scene.

At the end of 2019, ZywOo was recognized as the best player in the world according to HLTV. A year later, he repeated the achievement, retaining the title of the best player in the world in 2020.

At the end of 2020, Vitality was considered one of the strongest teams on the planet. The roster won two major events: IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 and BLAST Premier: Fall 2020.

The main idea behind ZywOo's tactics is that CS:GO was created for aggression. The chosen philosophy hasn't failed yet: the player is constantly causing pressure throughout the map. The highest speed and accuracy of the AWP control allow him to operate at any, even the shortest, distance. Mathieu gives training at least 3-5 hours every day: the figure for the time played is close to one and a half thousand every year.

Despite the concerns of his mom, CS:GO has become a source of constant income for ZywOo. In his rather short but bright career, he has earned over $ 400,000 in prize money alone. The final number is unknown: the cost of advertising contracts and the player's salary aren't disclosed
